Volunteer with us

Do you believe in mental health recovery?

Do you have lived experience of mental health challenges?

The Wellbeing College has been around since July 2018 and we are excited to continue to develop the College by introducing opportunities to volunteer with us.

Over the last year we have adjusted the way that people volunteer due to the social distancing measures in place. Our volunteers have been working online and our hope is that there will be opportunities to work in person once again soon from our base at the Hive in Galashiels as well as from community venues across the Scottish Borders.

Why volunteer with us?

Research has found that volunteering has a positive impact on mental health and wellbeing.

Our volunteers are vital to the support we provide. We couldn't work with as many students without our volunteers alongside us.

In return of offering your time, experience and skills, we offer you the opportunity to take part in quality training, the chance to learn new skills, build your confidence, meet new people and make a difference to those using our services.

All volunteers receive support, supervision and ongoing training.

Volunteering roles

There’s a wide range of volunteering roles within the Wellbeing College, including:

  • Course Delivery Volunteer
  • Community venues’ Volunteer
  • Hub Volunteer
  • Content and Resources’ Volunteer
  • Student IT support volunteer
  • Communications and marketing Volunteer
  • Outreach events’ Volunteer

Please note that volunteer activity- and therefore commitment- is not equal in all roles, this can be dependant on what is happening at the Wellbeing College at one given time.

How to become a volunteer

If you are interested in a particular role or want further information about volunteering with us please email wellbeing.college@health-in-mind.org.uk or call us on 01896 807000.

Once you've made contact your enquiry will be passed on to the relevant person in the team. Someone will then contact you with further information and to outline the next steps.

Please note that for most of our volunteering roles a PVG check is required.
